With the private sector and partnerships playing a significant and critical role in nation-building, World Vision is mounting the third edition of its CSR Summit on May 25 to highlight the importance of doing CSR at this crucial time.
Besides how businesses are currently responding to a financial crises, there will be explorations at the CSR Summit in Davao on ways that businesses can help vulnerable groups in the community, as well as ways in which individuals can contribute to those who have come to the community’s new demands.
However, with the threat of COVID-19 still looming in the country, the pandemic has greatly affected the arrangement of World Vision. But through learning to adapt digitally, the organization has continued its efforts in pursuing its initiatives to communities and families.
“We have to follow with the government standards and protocols ensuring that our staff, they are not infected or not infecting the communities we are helping so it’s both ways,” said Mr. Rommel Fuerte, World Vision National Director, “We shifted to more technology-based, our biggest programming is around education, making sure that children continue to have access to that so we partnered with different individuals and companies as well in ensuring that children would have access to module, gadgets, or anything like that. We deliver that in a way we don’t put the staff and community’s safety in jeopardy as well.” he added
Ms. Jocelyn Mariscal, Associate Director for Operations expressed how camaraderie has helped World Vision adapt during the start of the pandemic, “It was really difficult at start but we have several strategies like online virtual meetings for communications. We thank our partners we have established like the local government unit, other organizations especially community leaders. We have shifted to that and we have used several means of communication just to continue our programs and initiatives. Once the lockdown eased, we started to go to communities but we still strictly comply to the minimum standards.”
With the easing of quarantine orders in the entire country, Davao is still at the forefront of providing the utmost care in handling the current pandemic situation. The city’s “Test, Trace, Treat” strategies in containing the virus have been vital in trying to contain the virus, citing also the importance of the public and private partnerships and initiatives in tackling the pandemic.
Participating business leaders for the CSR Summit in Davao include representatives from Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc., Dow Indonesia, and Mega Global Corporation.
