The unconditional love between a mother and daughter bagged the first place on Natucair #DealWithTheSmell Viral Video Challenge. Aiming to showcase the creativity and vision of local filmmakers, giving them the avenue to present their craft not just to potential clients but also the internet.
‘Wedding day‘ is a heartwarming story about a daughter appreciating her mother’s strength, as well as wording her gratitude for her sacrifices on her wedding day, directed by Rodel Mercado of Frontline Production Inc. A tear-jerking short about acceptance, courage, the bond of a family and finding the path to love again over the hardships compelling them to take home the 10, 000 pesos grand prize.
Securing the second place is a comedic heist thriller centering three thieves conniving to steal from a house only to be surprised in what they found, titled ‘The Smell That Cares‘. Cagayan de Oro pride, director Michael Ian Medico certainly captured the netizen’s laughter; easily bagging the 50, 000 cash prize.
On the other hand, ‘Sangsang‘ directed and written by Rico Roman Kamatoy follows a group of friends on a roadtrip and stumbled on a ghost along the way taking home 25, 000 pesos.
After presenting such impressive craft about the somber journey and loss of a fatherhood, as well as the importance of a memory. Director Glenn Doroja‘s ‘Evocation‘ urged the jury to give out a special citation that came with a 5, 000 peso prize earning himself an honor unique for his short.
Meanwhile, winning the hearts and smile of the masses is a romantic comedy about a girl’s intuition about her alleged cheating boyfriend. Directed and written by Al-jhun Virgo, titled MKSA aka Makuha Ka Sa Amoy bagging 5, 000 pesos. The People’s Choice award is given to the video that garnered the most views on the official Insight 360 Consultancy Services YouTube channel during the judging period.
These videos were selected from a pool of twenty-three finalists which also included “Amoy ng Pag-ibig” by James Golla, “Ang Kabaliwan ni Val” by Alejandro Ramos, “Ang Tagapag-alaga ng Flower” by Joven Golla II, “Biag ni Lang-ang” by Robert Sagum, “COD” by Ken Leviste, “Dear Kuya” by Lancy Izzy Bautista, “Dear Melody” by Don Ralph Diaz, “Driver” by Harold Jay Silla, “Game On” by John Kenneth Paclibar, and “Home” by Joshua Alivio.
The finalists also included “Kaibigan” by Harold Jay Silla, “Ma” by John Kenneth Paclibar, “Natucair Dreams” by Reynold Cambay, “Pa” by Dexter Paul de Jesus, “Pabaon” by Lanie-Mae Bultic, “Paraiso” by Jose Carlo Gloria, “Tatlumpung Segundo” by Marco Paulo Castro, and “Tonyo’s Secret” by Jay-son Talusan.
All twenty-three videos shortlisted as finalists can now be viewed on YouTube.
