Unveiling of Winners Torre Lorenzo and DLS-CSB’s Digital Mural Contest

Torre Lorenzo Development Corporation (TLDC) and De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB) have announced the winners of their Manila Digital Mural Art Contest. The contest was open to DLS-CSB students, and the winning entries were chosen for their creative interpretation of Manila’s cultural character. The winning entries include Januel Adrei Pitoy’s “This is Manila” and “Rise,” John Benedict Mangco’s “Kape para kay…” and “Abstract Diversity,” and Albertha Dorado and Mikhayla Renee Harlea’s “Larga.”

The winning entries will be turned into actual murals or stickers and displayed in various public spaces in TLDC’s upcoming serviced residence, lyf Malate Manila. Cathy Casares-Ko, TLDC’s Chief Operations Officer, said that the aim of the digital murals is to showcase Manila’s rich culture and promote young artists. As the first lyf property to open in the Philippines, lyf Malate Manila features co-living spaces designed for the next generation of travelers. The creatively designed shared spaces allow guests to interact with each other.

DLS-CSB’s Vice Chancellor for Academics, Angelo Lacson, said that the winning digital murals were impressive for their technical skill in the use of color, illustration, and messaging. The winning artworks were selected for their meaningful message and creative interpretation of Manila City’s unique character. The winners will receive cash prizes in a formal awarding ceremony.

Torre Lorenzo Malate is located within walking distance of commercial establishments and lifestyle options in Manila’s historic and cultural capital. It offers three distinct experiences, including signature premium residential condominium units under The Residences at TLM, stylish serviced residences at The Suites, and lyf Malate Manila managed by international lodging operator The Ascott Limited.

This is Manila

“In my ultimate art piece, I aimed to fully exhibit what Manila genuinely embodies. I designed a protagonist wearing an orange shirt and holding a paintbrush who is responsible for painting and adding color to the entire Manila scenery. This protagonist is present in all the scenes I’ve illustrated and signifies my own identity. My goal is to bring vitality and significance to my surroundings by inspiring my fellow Filipinos.”
