In Manila, Philippines, on July 21, 2023, UNIQLO collaborated with the Philippine non-government organization CORA (Communities Organized for Resource Allocation) to organize a coastal clean-up event held along the shores of Manila Bay on July 19. This significant initiative brought together over a hundred customers, volunteers, UNIQLO staff, and media guests, all united in their commitment to achieving a cleaner and healthier coastal ecosystem. The event was a part of UNIQLO’s broader JOIN: The Power of Clothing campaign, which aims to combat ocean garbage and exemplifies the company’s ongoing dedication to making positive contributions to the planet, society, and local communities.

“UNIQLO’s commitment to transformative initiatives goes beyond fashion, as
exemplified by the JOIN: The Power of Clothing project and this coastal clean-up drive
that we have initiated recently in other Asian markets,” said Geraldine Sia, UNIQLO
Philippines’ Chief Operating Officer. “By partnering with CORA, a champion for
sustainable development, we aim to make a lasting impact on the environment and
inspire others to take action. We believe in the collective power of clothing to transform
lives, communities, and create a cleaner, healthier coastal ecosystem for all.”

For the clean-up drive at the Las Pinas-Paranaque Wetland Park, UNIQLO collaborated

help foster a healthy planet. The company’s environmental efforts include a commitment to the reduction of single-use plastics, increasing the proportion of recycled materials in its products, and steadily reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with its 2030 targets. At the recent coastal clean-up drive, the volunteers collected a total of over 300 kilograms of plastic waste, which will be collected and recycled by CORA Eco-Ikot Center Women Champions.
