UnionDigital Bank Celebrates 2nd Anniversary with Community-Centric Initiatives

UnionDigital Bank, the digital banking arm of Union Bank of the Philippines, is celebrating its second anniversary by reinforcing its commitment to financial inclusion and community development. Since its launch, UnionDigital has focused on serving the underserved and expanding financial access to those traditionally excluded from the banking system.

To mark this milestone, UnionDigital is unveiling its UD Cares initiative at San Pedro Elementary School in Laguna. This initiative represents the start of a broad community engagement strategy centered on education, health, and livelihood.

“At UnionDigital, our anniversaries are more than celebrations; they are opportunities to give back,” said Lanie Santos, Chief Human Resource Officer at UnionDigital Bank. “This year, our UD Cares initiative underscores our dedication to supporting essential social development pillars. It embodies our mission to empower every Filipino across the nation.”

In anticipation of the 2024 school year, UnionDigital has contributed school supplies, paint, and has actively participated in painting classrooms as part of San Pedro Elementary School’s Brigada Eskwela program. These actions highlight UnionDigital’s ongoing commitment to education as a vital element of sustainable development.

“By investing in communities through UD Cares, we reaffirm our dedication to nation-building and financial inclusion, creating meaningful and lasting impacts on the lives of those we serve,” added Santos.

Beyond community support, UnionDigital has also addressed the needs of individuals struggling to secure loans through traditional banking channels. The additional funds provided through UD Loans have helped customers manage emergencies, make home improvements, and invest in their families’ futures through education.

“UD Loans gave me the financial support I needed for an urgent medical procedure. While other banks turned me away, UnionDigital stepped in to help, and I am deeply grateful,” shared Julie dela Vega, a UD Loans customer. “My treatment is ongoing, and I remain hopeful.”

UnionDigital’s impact extends beyond financial transactions, aiming to create opportunities and drive positive change within communities. As it celebrates its second year, the bank remains dedicated to its core mission of advancing financial inclusion.

“Our journey over the past two years has focused on more than just growth and profitability; it has been about making a real difference in our customers’ lives and the communities we serve,” said Mike Singh, Chief Commercial and Revenue Officer at UnionDigital Bank.

Looking ahead, UnionDigital is set to continue its initiatives that support both economic and social development.

“While others hesitated, we led the way, fully aware of the challenges in championing financial inclusion,” Singh concluded. “Armed with valuable insights from our experiences, we are prepared to expand our influence and enhance our impact, striving to make financial services accessible to every Filipino.”
