Experience the rich tapestry of Philippine dance heritage as leading dance companies, groups, and artists showcase their excellence and versatility in Pulso Pilipinas: Mga Likhang Sayaw, scheduled on May 23 and 24, 2024, at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila City.
Organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and directed by Marciano Viri, Pulso Pilipinas brings together esteemed names such as the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, Bayanihan, The National Folk Dance Company of the Philippines, Ballet Philippines, Alice Reyes Dance Philippines (ARDP), Ballet Manila, Philippine Dancesport Team, The Crew, University of Santo Tomas (UST) Salinggawi Dance Troupe, and Aljana “Cheenee” Alicia Rose Marie Limuaco for a two-night dance festival celebrating artistic excellence.
Showcasing a diverse range of genres from folk and indigenous dances to contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, ballroom, and classical ballet, the program aims to educate, enrich, and deepen the appreciation of dance as a form of expression.
Emphasizing dance as a unifying force in nation-building, the event symbolizes the Filipino people’s inherent desire to express their thoughts, aspirations, and humanity through the arts. Dance serves as a platform for artistic and social expression, fostering collaboration across various sectors of society.
Highlights of the event include performances such as People Under The Sun by Bayanihan, The Matrix by the Philippine Dancesport Team, Equus by Ballet Philippines, and Dancing to Verdi by Ballet Manila on the first day.
On the second day, audiences can look forward to captivating performances like Padyak by the Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, The Matrix by the Philippine Dancesport Team, Maiba, Taya! by UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, Bayleng Bicolano by Alice Reyes Dance Philippines, and 24K Magic by The Crew.
Additionally, don’t miss the screening of Salom, a contemporary dance film choreographed and performed by Limuaco, which won first place in WifiBody.Ph (Virtual Body) 2020.
