Last January 7, 2015, the red carpet premiere of the movie Tragic Theater was held at the SM Megamall Cinema 9.
It was attended by the cast lead by Andi Eigenmann, John Estrada, Christopher De Leon and Direk Tikoy.
TRAGIC THEATER, produced by Viva Films, is based on a book by G.M. Coronel which is inspired by the tragedy of the Manila Film Center. The movie is about a cinema’s exorcism.
In the early 1980s, the film center was being rushed into completion when a scaffolding collapsed and several workers got killed in the process. It was widely believed that the number of deaths ranged between 150 to 168. Even more shocking was how some of the men had allegedly died. It was said that workers who were still alive but trapped by steel bars were not rescued, but rather, cement was poured over them to avoid delay in the construction.
This serves as the backdrop of the movie TRAGIC THEATER. Christopher de Leon, John Estrada, and Andi Eigenmann star as the brave priests and government official who lead a group of spirit communicators inside the haunted cinema.
TRAGIC THEATER is showing in Philippine cinemas nationwide on January 8, 201. The movie is directed by Tikoy Aguiluz.
