The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines received esteemed recognition as one of the Most Improved Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) at the inaugural Governance Awards Ceremony, held at the PICC Complex on November 20, hosted by the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG).
GCG commended TPB for making significant strides in corporate performance, achieving a validated performance scorecard rating of 94.90% in 2022. This rating covers crucial performance indicators across marketing operations, customer service, finance management, internal processes, learning and growth, and stakeholder relations.
Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles, TPB Chief Operating Officer, expressed deep gratitude for the accolade, stating, “This award marks a monumental milestone in our journey, a testament to TPB’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional service and enhancing its operations, epitomizing the Filipino brand of service.”
The recognition underscores TPB’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and continuous improvement in its operations. In addition to this honor, TPB has garnered multiple awards, including the Best NTO Award at the TTG Travel Awards, the National Tourism Initiative of the Year for PHITEX 2022 at the 2023 GOV Media Awards, and being named Sustainability Leader of the Year for the second consecutive year by Tripzilla.
This award arrives following record-breaking sales at various trade fairs in the Philippines and abroad, the launch of the Travel Philippines app, and involvement in over 200 events, tours, programs, and business missions locally and internationally.
The GCG serves as the primary advisory, oversight, and monitoring agency for all government-owned and controlled corporations in the Philippines under Republic Act 10149, known as the GOCC Governance Act of 2011. This inaugural Governance Awards Ceremony aimed to honor exemplary practices and outstanding performance ratings among GOCCs.
