Toyota Motor Philippines joins the basketball community as a local major sponsor for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and a partner of Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) and Gilas Pilipinas. The company’s involvement will play a crucial role in the country’s success in hosting the global sporting event.
Beyond the World Cup, Toyota and SBP are working together to support local athletes and improve basketball in the country. The company is fully supporting Gilas Pilipinas during their World Cup campaign, providing a boost to the national team as they play in front of thousands of Filipino fans.
FIBA Asia Board and SBP President Al Panlilio thanked Toyota and invited others to share in the “journey of world caliber sports and big business”. Toyota President Atsuhiro Okamoto stated that the partnership aligns with the company’s goal of producing happiness through their “START YOUR IMPOSSIBLE” sports campaign.
Toyota is also supporting SBP’s preparations for the World Cup through various basketball clinics and coaches camps. The company’s involvement highlights the significance of the World Cup and the importance of supporting the national team and local athletes.
The Philippines, along with Japan and Indonesia, will co-host the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup, with the majority of games taking place in the Philippines from August 25 to September 10, including the final phase and championship game. This will be the Philippines’ seventh time participating in the World Cup and second time hosting the event.
