Lily, formerly known as Callalily, is hosting a national audition in search of a new lead singer. On June 7, this will take place at The 70’s Bistro in Anonas, Quezon City, and on July 17, it will take place at the Ayala Event Center in Cebu City.
14 hopefuls auditioned and performed one song of their choosing and a song by Lily (formerly known as Callalily) last June 7 at The 70’s Bistro in Anonas, Quezon City. Only four of the candidates were picked to advance to the next stage.
Following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the award-winning iconic OPM band, comprised of mainstays Nathan Reyes, Lem Belaro, and Aaron Ricafrente, as well as notable member Alden Acosta, who left Callalily in 2010 but reunited with his music and recently returned as a member, is set to reclaim their presence in the music scene with their new vocals and further amplify the unique Filipino music by creating a legacy of their own.
“We’re looking for a new singer to front the band on the stage, and together, we will share a new set of interesting stories and experiences through our music,” says Alden, the band guitarist. “Ever since we started, we’ve wanted to echo our audience’s feelings and emotions. And that is what we’re going to continue.”
In an exclusive interview with Lily, we learned that they are looking for a new vocalist based on four primary criteria: voice quality, stage presence, bandmate material, and the capacity to market himself as Lily’s new vocalist.
The next lead vocalist must be between the ages of 22 and 27, exude confidence, have stage presence, appeal to an audience, and not be controlled by anybody or any corporation, among other requirements.
The band entered the local music scene in 2005 with their songs “Magbalik,” “Stars,” and “Pasan,” all from their debut album titled Destination XYZ. Callalily is also the pop rock band behind hit songs “Pansamantala,” “Ex,” and more.
