“‘Sorry I feel like a friend’ – that line always reminded me of what it was like to get friend-zoned in high school by your crush… but updated for my adult life. ‘It Hurts’ is about the intolerable drunk woman at the end of the bar at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Drunk, divorced, trying to maintain her lifestyle while looking for her next husband. She makes bad jokes, says unknowingly offensive things, and tries to smile her way through life doing the best she can, the only way she knows how.”
