Lenovo Philippines, committed to its mission of providing smarter technology for all, is thrilled to announce its latest collaboration with One Meralco Foundation (OMF). The contract signing ceremony, held on September 20, marks the initiation of another significant partnership.
Within the framework of this joint endeavor, Lenovo has committed to donating laptops to support OMF’s School Electrification Program. This program’s objective is to provide electricity to 10 schools across the Philippines in 2023, with three schools in Sarangani and Sultan Kudarat already reaping the benefits of electrification. Plans are also in motion to electrify two schools in South Cotabato and two more in Southern Palawan.
Michael Ngan, President and General Manager of Lenovo Philippines, expressed, “Our company has always been committed to providing smarter technology for all. However, we recognize that without power, the potential of technology remains untapped. By providing laptops to electrified schools, we illuminate the path for students and educators to access a world of knowledge.”
This isn’t the first time Lenovo Philippines has partnered with One Meralco Foundation. The collaboration began last year when Lenovo, inspired by the mission of the School Electrification Program, reached out to OMF. According to Ngan, this initiative resonated with their global mission of empowering underrepresented communities with access to technology and STEM education. As a result, teachers from schools in Iloilo received additional laptops from the world’s largest PC maker.
One Meralco Foundation’s President, Jeff Tarayao, expressed his gratitude for Lenovo’s support, stating, “Being able to reach the most remote island schools in the country adds even deeper meaning to our work at One Meralco Foundation. We are delighted that partners like Lenovo join us in these areas and contribute to the meaningful change that helps improve communities.” This solidifies the world’s #1 PC maker’s position as a dependable partner in driving solution-oriented transformations in the education sector.
To empower the productivity of our teachers, students, and their immediate communities by providing energy access to underserved areas across the country aligns perfectly with Meralco’s mission, according to Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho. “Through our electrification initiatives, Meralco and OMF aspire to continue positively impacting more lives and contributing to the sustainable and inclusive development of communities beyond our franchise area,” Aperocho concluded.
