SUN LIFE LAUNCHES BRIGHT BARKADA TO PROMOTE FINANCIAL LITERACY AMONG YOUTH

Today’s younger generation is considered the most financially literate in the Philippines, yet many still lack a concrete plan for their financial future, according to the 2024 Sun Life Asia Financial Resilience Index.

Learning proper financial planning and management is a key part of “adulting.” While this process may seem overwhelming, it can be much easier when shared with friends who inspire and support each other in pursuing dreams and reaching goals.

This is exactly how Gen Z content creators Dan Yotoko, Elize Mariano, John “JD” Deseo, Cess Tan, and Migo Austria, collectively known as the Bright Barkada, navigate the challenges of adulthood.

Dan Yotoko, the “Active Runner,” is widely recognized for his #RealTalkSaglit TikToks, where he shares life lessons from his experiences.

Elize Mariano, the “Beauty Guru,” shares her passion for beauty and skincare through her content.

John “JD” Deseo, dubbed “The Entertainer,” is living his dream by creating content and interviewing top celebrities and personalities in the Philippines.

Cess Tan, the group’s “Fashionista,” provides fashion tips and shopping advice to her followers.

Miguel “Migo” Austria, “The Smart One,” is a lifestyle content creator who recently graduated with Latin honors from the University of Santo Tomas and is planning to pursue law.

Sun Life Philippines has launched the Bright Barkada as a group of real-life friends who support each other in pursuing their passions, while also promoting financial literacy. Through their platforms, they will demonstrate how sound financial habits help them live brighter lives and turn their dreams into reality.

Their first video podcast, “Adulting with the Bright Barkada,” has already been released on Sun Life’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel. You can watch it at www.sunlife.co/BrightBarkadaPodcast.

“We’re excited to have the Bright Barkada as partners in promoting financial literacy. We hope their content inspires today’s youth to develop smart money habits, explore financial solutions, and secure their future,” said Carla Gonzalez-Chong, Sun Life Philippines’ Chief Client Experience and Marketing Officer.
