In celebration of National Arts Month, Camarines Sur 2nd District Representative Gabriel Bordado Jr. has urged the national government to strengthen the promotion of arts and culture. He emphasized the importance of the arts in driving tourism growth, creating jobs for marginalized people, and improving the quality of products and services. Bordado also highlighted the arts’ value in encouraging young minds to learn and understand different subjects, creating a more empowered citizenry, and advancing the nation’s development.
Moreover, Bordado emphasized that the arts are not only about profitability but are also an essential part of our humanity. They allow for self-expression, reflection, and connection to other human beings. As Filipinos, the arts play a crucial role in strengthening our sense of nationalism and preserving our collective history and culture.
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, Bordado reminded everyone that the National Arts Month theme, “Ani ng Sining, Bunga ng Galing,” signifies the extraordinary works borne from the passion and talents of Filipino artists. It is a reminder of our capability to heal and rise above obstacles, and the capability of art to restore and reinspire our drive for progress and growth as a nation.
