Asia’s Unkabogable Phenomenal Superstar Vice Ganda is poised to grace the silver screen once more following a two-year hiatus, sparking fervor among fans with the unveiling of her latest cinematic venture, “And The Breadwinner Is.”
Vice Ganda’s return to cinema heralds the inaugural collaboration between Star Cinema and The IdeaFirst Company. Moreover, it marks a milestone as Vice Ganda joins forces for the first time with acclaimed director Jun Robles Lana.
“This marks the first time we’re working together and I’m truly ecstatic. This is a highlight of my career not only for this year but for my entire movie career. This is one of the biggest highlights,” she exclaimed.
Jun expressed his enthusiasm about collaborating with Vice Ganda for the first time, assuring audiences of a unique cinematic journey brimming with comedy, drama, and poignant moments.
“It encompasses everything audiences anticipate from a Vice Ganda film – uproarious comedy and much more. We’ll witness Vice not only making us laugh but also touching our hearts,” he remarked.
With Lana’s directorial finesse melding with her comedic brilliance, Vice aspires to realize her dream of crafting a film that resonates with viewers long after its release.
“I’ve had my fair share of box office successes. Now, I want to have in my filmography something that competes in international film festivals. This is my dream. I’ve been praying for a movie with internal value. There are films that may not have performed well at the box office but hold intrinsic value in Philippine cinema and in the consciousness of those who watched them. There comes a time when they’re revisited because of the kind of film they are. I want to experience that now,” she shared.
The movie’s writers, Daisy Cayanan Mijares and Jumbo Albano, divulged that “And The Breadwinner Is” will delve into the life of a family’s breadwinner, exploring their joys, sorrows, struggles, and aspirations.
Vice extended her gratitude to the viewers who have supported her cinematic journey, propelling her to become the highest-grossing Filipino movie actor of all time, with her films amassing a staggering total gross of P4.6 billion.
When queried about the cast, Vice teased that her “It’s Showtime” co-host, Jhong Hilario, will be joining her in the movie.
