Renewable energy provider SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet (SNAP-Benguet) held its annual Host Communities’ Forum (HCF) on November 26, 2024, in Itogon, Benguet, gathering around 70 participants, including representatives from local government units and indigenous people’s organizations (IPOs). This year’s theme, “Redefining Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the Age of Sustainable Development,” underscored the evolving role of CSR in addressing modern sustainability challenges.
The forum featured insightful talks and discussions. Mr. June O. Bayeng, Agricultural Technologist from the Office of Agriculture, highlighted the success of the Integrated Diversified Farming System, a key CSR initiative. Meanwhile, Ana Margarita Hontiveros, Aboitiz Equity Ventures’ Chief Reputation and Sustainability Officer, presented on the importance of aligning CSR with the Aboitiz Group’s pillars of people, jobs, and climate action, emphasizing purpose beyond profit.
In his keynote speech, Joseph Yu, SNAP Group President and CEO, called for a paradigm shift in CSR, positioning it as a core element of responsible business. He stated, “As we navigate the landscape of sustainable development, we will continue to work together to redefine CSR—not as charity, not as philanthropy, but as the cornerstone of responsible business. By doing so, we can create lasting impact and progress that will benefit present and future generations.”
Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas expressed his appreciation through Mr. Mario Baucas, Benguet PLGU Executive Assistant. He lauded SNAP-Benguet’s contributions, noting the company’s role as a top taxpayer in the province and its instrumental efforts in improving the livelihood of Benguet’s communities and indigenous peoples.
The annual Host Communities’ Forum serves as a platform for SNAP-Benguet to engage with stakeholders, provide updates on its operations and initiatives, and foster collaboration in shaping and enhancing its CSR programs.
