Celebrating 16 years of championing education, My Dream in a Shoebox (MDIAS), the annual advocacy campaign led by TeamAsia, has kicked off its latest series of gift-giving initiatives to support underprivileged children.
In collaboration with Eastern Communications, the campaign recently distributed school supplies to 300 beneficiaries of the Payatas Orione Foundation Inc. (PAOFI). The event, held at the Atis Covered Court in Brgy. Payatas, Quezon City, brought together volunteers and beneficiaries in a meaningful act of giving.
More than just providing essential school materials, the campaign fosters a culture of volunteerism and hope.
“The gift-giving program is not just about distributing school supplies but about inspiring children to dream big and pursue their aspirations. We want to empower them with the tools and encouragement they need to face the future,” shared TeamAsia President and CEO Bea Lim.
Through its enduring commitment to education and community empowerment, My Dream in a Shoebox continues to make a difference in the lives of Filipino children.
“TeamAsia has been a long-time partner, and together, we’ve supported children from various foundations by providing ‘dream kits’ and essential resources each year,” said Eastern Communications Brand Supervisor Loren Maranan. “Even small efforts make a meaningful impact, helping these kids get closer to their dreams. We’re excited to take this partnership further by hosting fundraisers during one of our client appreciation nights. This initiative allows us and our clients to join hands in creating a lasting difference for these children’s futures.”
Through the years, My Dream in a Shoebox (MDIAS) has been instrumental in transforming education for underprivileged children. This annual campaign continues to inspire hope and deliver brighter possibilities, as reflected in the stories of its former scholars.
Real Stories of Transformation
Charlotte Rosalijos, a former PAOFI scholar and now a process associate in a logistics company, shared how MDIAS changed her perspective on life and education.
“The most significant impact came from the volunteers who inspired me to help indigent families like mine. I met a volunteer who was also an accountant, and her story motivated me to pursue accountancy. Seeing her success convinced me that it’s worth the effort. Now, I’ve started volunteering too, hoping to inspire others as she inspired me,” Charlotte said.
As a child, Charlotte faced the challenge of lacking school supplies, which often made her question her ability to continue studying. “The people around me didn’t give up on me. They kept encouraging me, saying, ‘You can do it, we will help you.’ MDIAS played a pivotal role in my journey,” she added.
Another former scholar, Jayden Rayne Monterey, echoed similar sentiments. “Programs like this gift-giving initiative make a significant difference, especially with the rising costs of school supplies. They helped me in my studies, and I know they’ll do the same for others.”
Jayden also shared her hopes for current scholars: “My dream for MDIAS scholars is for them to succeed in life, achieve their goals, and find happiness.”
The Ripple Effect of Giving
MDIAS continues to embody the power of education and community support, creating a ripple effect that uplifts families and communities. TeamAsia President and CEO Bea Lim emphasized this vision:
“Each shoebox represents a promise—a brighter future for our children. When we invest in their education, we’re investing in the leaders of tomorrow,” Lim said. “We’re deeply grateful to Eastern Communications for their generosity and commitment to uplifting communities. Through MDIAS, we aim to inspire not just kids, but volunteers as well. Together, we can create a cycle of hope and empowerment, uplifting our nation through education and big dreams.”
