SM Cares collaborated with the Cerebral Palsy Epilepsy Family Awareness Support Group.PH Inc. as its official event partner to commemorate World Cerebral Palsy Day through a special event. The occasion featured a Hip Awareness workshop and physical check-up, taking place on Sunday, October 22, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena Annex Building in Pasay City.
The workshop had the objective of providing orientation, assistance, and guidance to parents of children with cerebral palsy and epilepsy regarding hip dysplasia—a congenital complication characterized by improper fitting of the hip joint bones. This condition increases the susceptibility of affected children to hip dislocation, thereby impacting their mobility and self-sufficiency.
Jessa Marmol, President, and Founder of Cerebral Palsy Epilepsy Family Awareness Support Group.PH Inc. emphasized the importance of continuous contemplation regarding the challenges faced, stating, “If you find yourself questioning the current situation with an unlimited number of ‘whys,’ it becomes even more crucial for us to engage in ongoing reflection on how and what we can do to ensure a better life and a beautiful future for our children.”
“This signifies a momentous occasion for us, not only because it marks the second year of hosting such a significant event, but also underscores SM Supermalls’ continuous dedication to raising awareness and offering support to our friends with Cerebral Palsy,” stated Engr. Bien Mateo, Senior Vice President for Operations and Director for SM Cares Program on Persons with Disabilities at SM Supermalls.
“At the core of SM Cares is the principle of ‘Supporting Communities.’ In the spirit of social inclusion, we strive to enhance the accessibility of our malls and ensure that our frontline staff are supportive to individuals with cerebral palsy, as well as the families who care for them.”
“SM cares, and we will always be a mall for all. Our commitment is unwavering; no one is left behind, and our aspiration is for everyone to enjoy the same fun and leisure in our malls,” added Engr. Mateo.
