SM Cherry Shaw has recently unveiled the “Kick It Before It Kicks You” initiative, a dedicated program aimed at introducing the youth to the world of sports, starting with football on the third level at Cherry Turf PH.
A collaborative endeavor by SM Cherry Shaw, SM Cares, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the Mandaluyong City Police Station, this program is aligned with the government’s resounding campaign, “Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan” (BIDA).
Guided by the shared vision of these stakeholders, the program was spearheaded by the true-blooded Madaleño, DILG Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos Jr., whose presence was later represented by Assistant Regional Director for DILG NCR, Atty. Ana Lyn Baltazar-Cortez. Atty. Baltazar-Cortez emphasized, “Nurturing a healthy lifestyle among students necessitates a foundation in physical education. This initiative stands as one of the many avenues through which we can empower the youth to partake in physical activities such as football. Moreover, it represents a progressive stride towards safeguarding our youth, especially those in high school, who remain susceptible to the influence of unscrupulous elements in society involved in the illicit drug trade.”
An inspiring turnout of 100 high school students from the Mataas na Paaralang Neptali A. Gonzales High School in Brgy. Mauway, Mandaluyong City, actively engaged in the program. Furthermore, a multitude of security personnel stationed at SM Cherry Shaw, SM Center Pasig, SM Megamall, and The Podium admirably rallied around the cause, magnifying their commitment and support for the initiative.
