Sky Cable Partners with Converge to Enhance Fiber Internet Service

Sky Cable Corporation is set to elevate its internet service for both new and existing Sky Fiber subscribers by leveraging the advanced pure fiber network of Converge Information and Communications Technology Solutions Inc.

Sky Cable Corp. has forged a commercial partnership with Converge, a leading Philippine fiber broadband provider, to upgrade its network and enhance service quality for its subscribers.

Sky Chairman Mark Lopez commented, “Converge has developed a state-of-the-art fiber network nationwide that Sky customers will soon benefit from.”

Sky President and Chief Operations Officer Claudia Suarez added that the collaboration with Converge aligns with Sky’s transformation plan, aimed at improving its products and services. “This partnership with Converge will enable Sky and its subscribers to take advantage of the world-class fiber network Converge has established,” she said.

Converge President and Co-Founder Maria Grace Uy highlighted that the arrangement will optimize Converge’s network and increase port utilization. “This will boost Converge’s revenue, aligning with similar partnerships and allowing us to further monetize our excess network capacity,” she noted.

Converge boasts the largest fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network in the Philippines, with over eight million ports and a fiber footprint extending more than 700,000 kilometers, reaching 16 million Filipino homes nationwide. As of March 2024, Converge serves 2.3 million residential broadband subscribers across the country.

Converge CEO and Co-Founder Dennis Anthony Uy expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “My first venture was in cable television, and with the rise of fiber technology abroad in the early 2000s, my wife Grace and I ventured into fixed broadband. I’m excited to support Sky, a leader in cable, in its transformation by providing the latest optical fiber technology.”

Converge Chief Operations Officer Jesus Romero added, “We are confident that Sky subscribers will experience improved broadband speeds and connectivity.”

Carlo Katigbak, president and CEO of ABS-CBN and Sky director, expressed optimism about the collaboration, stating, “We believe this initiative will significantly enhance the customer experience and align with our commitment to delivering superior service.”

The Sky transformation program also includes initiatives to boost operational efficiency, financial discipline, and organizational improvements.

“We hope this model will inspire other industry players to follow suit. It’s part of Converge’s mission to provide world-class connectivity to all Filipinos and ensure no one is left behind in the digital era,” concluded Uy.
