Selangor Red Giants (SRG) achieved a fairy-tale ending at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024 today, July 14th. The underdog team triumphed over world champions Falcons AP.Bren (FCAP) in a thrilling 4:3 victory in the best-of-seven (BO7) series, held at a packed Amazon Arena in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. Jungler Muhammad Haqqullah “Sekys” Ahmad Shahrul Zaman earned the title of Grand Finals Most Valuable Player (FMVP). SRG, now crowned champions, will take home USD 1 million, while FCAP receives USD 500,000.
This historic win by SRG marks the first time a Malaysian team has claimed top honors in a major MLBB esports tournament, a feat unprecedented as no Malaysian team had previously reached the Grand Finals. SRG’s triumph also extends their unbeaten streak in competitive MLBB esports to an impressive 106 days.
The MSC 2024 has set a milestone as the largest mid-season MLBB esports tournament to date, venturing beyond Southeast Asia for the first time. It showcased international teams from North America, Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA), Turkey, Latin America, and China, marking it as the inaugural title of the Esports World Cup.
SRG consists of key players such as Muhammad Haqqullah “Sekys” Ahmad Shahrul Zaman, Mark “Kramm” Rusiana, Muhammad “Zakqt” Noor, Hazziq “Stormie” Rizwan, John “Innocent” Banal, Muhammad “Yums” Suhairi, Ilman “Gojes” Zulkifli, along with Head Coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado and Assistant Coach Poon “OzoraVeki” Kok Sing.
SRG Head Coach Michael “Arcadia” Bocado reflected on the intense best-of-seven series in the post-match press conference, stating, “We focused on maintaining composure throughout. The series challenged our mental resilience, so staying in the zone and executing our game plans flawlessly, game by game, was crucial.”
FCAP, formerly known as AP.Bren, holds the current World Championship title and boasts two M-Series championship victories. The Philippine team features star players such as David Charles “FlapTzy” Canon, Vincent Joseph “Pando” Unigo, Michael Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson, Angelo Kyle “Pheww” Arcangel, Marco Stephen “Super Marco” Requitiano, and Rowgien Stimpson “Owgwen” Unigo. Head Coach Francis “Ducky” Glindro and Technical Coach Robert Alexis “Trebor” Sanchez lead the team. Winning an MSC championship remains the only major MLBB honor yet to be added to their impressive list of achievements.
The summit clash drew a peak of 2,382,990 concurrent viewers (PCV), making it the most-watched esports event at the inaugural Esports World Cup, according to Esports Charts.

MOONTON Games has officially announced that the Axiata Arena Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur will host the Semi Finals and Grand Finals of the M6 World Championship. This marks a significant return for MLBB’s premier international tournament after a five-year absence, with the arena previously hosting the inaugural M Series in 2019. The highly anticipated global MLBB event is scheduled to kick off in November 2024.
