SB19, the Filipino Five-Member Boy Band, Featured on THE FIRST TAKE!

Special performance of the viral hit song “Gento” Famous for its impactful dance that gained popularity on TikTok

The latest episode of the YouTube channel THE FIRST TAKE has been announced, featuring Episode 449 with SB19, a five-member boy band from the Philippines, making their debut appearance on the show.

SB19 is the first Southeast Asian artist to be nominated for Top Social Artist at the 2021 U.S. Billboard Music Awards. They will perform their hit song “GENTO,” known for its catchy phrase and unique dance moves, which gained popularity on TikTok. This special version of the song for THE FIRST TAKE conveys the message that “the accumulation of small efforts leads to success.”

Reflecting on the experience, SB19 shared, “It was a true first take, so we were very nervous and overwhelmed, but it was fun and an amazing experience. Above all, we are grateful for this opportunity and for being able to represent the Philippines by performing our song here. We are honored to showcase our music and culture to the world through THE FIRST TAKE.”

THE FIRST TAKE is a Japanese YouTube channel that invites top singers and artists from around the globe to perform a song recorded in one take. The videos are filmed in a studio, featuring shots of the performing artist and a microphone against a typically white background.

SB19 is the first Southeast Asian group and the first Filipino artists to be invited to this influential music platform. Following the announcement, “HALA THE FIRST SB19” trended at No. 1, 2, and 35 on X’s trend list in the Philippines, Japan, and worldwide, respectively.

In addition to this recognition, SB19 has recently been nominated for Favorite Asian Act at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
