The five artists will be part of a special live collaboration that will take place in three cities across Asia
Japanese hip-hop acts Rude-α and ¥uk-B have joined forces with Filipino rappers Alisson Shore and Waiian, along with Indonesian singer-songwriter Tanayu, for a collaborative music project titled “Our New Songlines 2023.” This multi-disciplinary effort brings together talented artists from across Asia, aiming to create new music that draws inspiration from their collective imagination and fosters hope for the future.
As part of the project, this newly formed collective is scheduled to perform at the Music Town Oto-Ichiba in Koza, Japan, on August 26, 2023. The performance is one of the side events organized in Manila (the Philippines), Jakarta (Indonesia), and Koza (Japan) in conjunction with the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, reflecting the shared passion for music and sports in the region.
This collaboration not only highlights the diversity and richness of Asian music but also celebrates the cultural exchange and artistic synergy among artists from different backgrounds. “Our New Songlines 2023” promises to deliver an unforgettable musical experience, bridging cultures and creating a sense of unity through the universal language of music.
Stay tuned for this remarkable performance as these talented artists come together to leave an indelible mark on the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 and inspire audiences with their unique blend of creativity and musical expression.
In addition to their individual and collaborative performances, the participating artists are currently working on a new song that embodies the essence of Songlines—a concept rooted in the indigenous Aboriginal culture of Australia, where invisible paths guide individuals on their journey into the new world.
The official statement highlights the intentions behind this musical endeavor, stating, “These five artists will create and present their works with a focus on ‘change’ in a new era, ‘hope’ for tomorrow, and ‘mutual understanding’ in a land rich with diverse cultures and values. In August, Koza, Manila, and Jakarta will host the Basketball World Cup. The enthusiasm of these three cities for sports will be transformed into music and shared with the world from Music Town Oto-Ichiba.”
The music project is presented by Okinawa City and Music Town Oto-Ichiba in collaboration with Music Lane Okinawa, The Rest Is Noise PH, and SRM Bookings and Services. This partnership aims to foster cultural exchange and create a platform for artists to express their shared vision through the universal language of music.
As the artists draw inspiration from the concept of Songlines and the vibrant atmosphere of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, audiences can look forward to experiencing a unique fusion of diverse cultures and musical styles. The resulting song will serve as a testament to the power of music in connecting people and transcending boundaries.
Stay tuned for this groundbreaking musical creation as these talented artists craft a harmonious masterpiece that embodies the spirit of unity, cultural appreciation, and shared aspirations for a better future.
