Manila, Philippines has been chosen as the provisional host city for the annual international convention of Rotary International from June 3-8, 2028. It is expected to be the largest and most culturally diverse gathering ever held in the country, with more than 25,000 Rotary members and attendees from all over the world coming together to connect, learn from experts and each other, and share ideas on how to make positive, lasting change in communities globally. This will be Rotary’s 119th convention and the first to be held in Manila.
Rotary International President Jennifer Jones said that Manila’s diverse and lively culture mirrors the global mosaic of the organization, making it an ideal city for members and participants to connect and celebrate their friendships, cultures, and experiences. Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco of the Philippine Department of Tourism expressed the Philippine government’s excitement and honor to host the distinguished members of Rotary International and assured them of the country’s legendary hospitality, service excellence, and award-winning beach, nature, and heritage destinations, making their stay a memorable and immersive experience that is rich in Filipino culture.
The winning bid was led by Past District Governor Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr., with the support of Rotary clubs in the Philippines, various public agencies, and MICE industry stakeholders. The Philippine government’s goal is to reclaim its primary position as one of Asia’s most preferred destinations for international meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE). Rotary members worldwide strive to develop and implement sustainable, community-driven projects that combat diseases, promote peace, provide clean water, support education, save mothers and children, grow local economies, and protect the environment, and The Rotary Foundation has awarded over US$5.5 billion to support these programs globally.
