Rachel Alejandro breathes new life to some of the best Original Pilipino Music (OPM) hits through a newly released album—her first under Star Music—that also signals her return to the recording scene.
Comprising eight classic OPM tracks that are given fresh arrangements, “Rachel Alejandro: The Great OPM Songbook Vol. 1” aims to reimagine the beloved Filipino tunes for the younger listeners and the young-at-heart.
The album’s key track is “Ang Pag-ibig Kong Ito,” a ballad originally recorded by Leah Navarro that now bears a striking jazz sound. Other tracks included are “Catch Me, I’m Falling,” “Hanggang,” “Ikaw,” “Kahit Habang Buhay,” “Kung Ako Ba Siya,” “Kung Ako Na Lang Sana,” and “Sabi Na Nga Ba.”
Known as the original “Queen of Heartbreak Songs,” Rachel is a passionate and accomplished singer, actress, producer, host, and entrepreneur with a career spanning over three decades. Some of her most notable hits include “Paalam Na,” “Nakapagtataka,” “Kay Tagal,” and “Mr. Kupido.”
As an actress, she last starred in the critically acclaimed films “Ang Larawan” in 2017 and “Quezon’s Game” in 2019.
In July this year, she officially joined ABS-CBN’s premier talent management arm Star Magic and is also set to star as Nathalia Lucero in the highly anticipated Kapamilya series “The Broken Marriage Vow.”
