Puregold Cinepanalo Film Festival on its second year

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – The second year of the renowned film festival hosted by PureGold will commence this March 2025.

This film festival reigned eight winning filmmakers from the application received P3M each and P150,000 for twenty-four student filmmakers for the purpose of their productions.

“After an intensely competitive application period, these directors came out on top of the heap,” Ivy Hayagan-Piedad, senior marketing manager said.

The film festival is partners with MTRCB, Gateway Cineplex 18, Mowelfund, Terminawl Six, CMB Films, and MFP Rentals.

Some entries from the festival featured famous artists such as JC Santos and Jasmine Curtis-Smith in Journeymen, Alexa Ilacad, Jameson Blake, KD Estrada and Kira Balinger in Co-Love, Janella Salvador and RK Bagatsing in Fleeting, Khalil Ramos, Romnick Sarmenta, and child actor Xander Nuda in Olsen’s Day, and Ruby Ruiz in Tigkiliwi.

The festival will have a documentary join in the line-up entitled Baby Ruth Villarama’s Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea.

The festival will also give opportunities to student-filmmakers who applied from different universities around the country.

The twenty-four films are as follows:

  • “Dan, En Pointe” by Adelbert Abrigonda of Polytechnic University of the Philippines
  • “Cancer Din Ang Zodiac Sign Mo?” by Allan M. Balance Jr. of Polytechnic University of the Philippines
  • “Dito, Dati” by Angel Allizon of University of Santo Tomas
  • “Sine-sine” by Roniño Dolim of University of Eastern Philippines
  • “1… 2… Strike!!!” by Kenneth Flores of Far Eastern University
  • “Sa Susunod Sisikat si Susan” by Austine Rae R. Fresnido of FAITH Colleges
  • “Champ Green” by Clyde Cuizon Gamale of University of the Philippines
  • “Nanay’s Frankenstein” by Bjorn M. Herrera of Central Philippines University
  • “Mother at Sixty” by Maria Eleanor P. Javier of University of the Philippines Visayas
  • “Sisenta!” by Mae Malayar and Ivan Gentolizo of University of the Philippines
  • “SamPie” by Ira Corinne Esquerra Malit of University of Caloocan City
  • “Taympers” by Naiah Nicole Medoza of Polytechnic University of the Philippines
  • “Uwian” by Vhan Marco B. Molacruz of Colegio de San Jan de Letran
  • “Let’s Go Somewhere Else” by Jadrien Morales of University of the Philippines
  • “Papunta Ka Pa Lang, Naka-Bounce Na Ako” by Regene Narciso of Dalubhasaan Ng Lungsod Ng San Pablo
  • “Checkmate” by Alexie Nicole Pardo of Polytechnic University of the Philippines
  • “Daeaura” by Kieth Earl B Rebaño of University of the Philippines Visayas
  • “Japan Surplus” by John Lester Rimorin of University of the Philippines
  • “G!” by Jose Andy Sales of University of San Carlos
  • “Our One and Only Bab(o)y” by Mark Joseph Sanchez of Polytechnic University of the Philippines
  • “Si Nadia at ang Kanyang mga Kuro-Kuro” by Aubrey Soriano of Polytechnic University of the Philippines
  • “Sa Pagbunga” by Jasper Tan of Far Eastern University
  • “Daog, Pildi” by Johannes Tejero of University of San Carlos
  • “Dela Cruz, Juan P.” by Sean Rafael A. Verdejo of National University Laguna

The aforementioned films will be available to the public on the big screen at Gateway Cineplex 18 from March 14-25, 2025.
