The upcoming 2025 Puregold CinePanalo Film Festival is shaping up to be a major event in the Philippine film industry, with filmmakers and their entries recently introduced at a press conference at the Artson Events Place in Quezon City. Building on the tremendous success of last year’s festival, this year’s edition is poised to become a highly anticipated fixture in the local entertainment calendar.

The allure of the festival lies in its substantial production grants. In its 2025 edition, eight winning filmmakers will each receive P3,000,000, while twenty-four student filmmakers will be awarded P150,000 each. This generous financial backing is driving aspiring filmmakers to craft uplifting narratives under the theme “Mga Kwentong Panalo ng Buhay.”

At the press conference, Puregold CinePanalo proudly introduced the talented participants, which included festival organizers and representatives from its various partners, such as the MTRCB, Gateway Cineplex 18, Mowelfund, Terminal Six, CMB Films, and MFP Rentals.

Ivy Hayagan-Piedad,senior marketing manager for Puregold, expressed her excitement about collaborating with a fresh batch of filmmakers. “After an intensely competitive application period, these directors emerged as the top contenders,” she shared. “We believe they will produce exceptional, captivating work, and we can’t wait for the public to experience these films at the festival.”

TM Malones brings us Salum, starring Allen Dizon and Christine Mary Dimaisip, while Jill Singson Urdaneta’s Co-Love will feature KD Estrada, Alexa Ilacad, Jameson Blake, and Kira Balinger. In a landmark moment, Baby Ruth Villarama’s Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea marks the first-ever documentary to be featured in the festival, while Catsi Catalan makes her directorial debut with Fleeting, starring Janella Salvador and RK Bagatsing.

The press event also celebrated twenty-four student filmmakers from universities nationwide, who will present their original works. These filmmakers include Adelbert Abrigonda (Polytechnic University of the Philippines), Angel Allizon Cruz (University of Santo Tomas), and Aubrey Soriano (Polytechnic University of the Philippines), among others.
