The reboot of the beloved classic features Eugene Domingo, Smokey Manaloto, and Sassa Gurl. Takeshi’s Castle will premiere on Prime Video in the Philippines on November 16
Today, Prime Video unveiled the cast for the Filipino version of the Takeshi’s Castle reboot, featuring Smokey Manaloto, Eugene Domingo, and Sassa Gurl. The beloved Japanese game show’s reboot will be accessible on Prime Video in the Philippines starting from November 16.
Smokey Manaloto, renowned as the original host of the Filipino episodes of the show, returns to the Takeshi’s Castle universe. This time, he takes on the role of a former employee of Takeshi, bringing back his trademark snarky commentary and insider’s insights into the game.
Joining Manaloto is the renowned comedian Eugene Domingo. Known for her impeccable comedic timing and versatile acting, Domingo is celebrated for her ability to breathe life into characters with her unique style. She represents the group’s resident “chismosas” (gossips).
Internet sensation Sassa Gurl is all set to inject an extra dose of wit and laughter into the Takeshi’s Castle gang. After gaining increased acclaim for her sensational portrayal as the Drag Runner in the Amazon Original reality competition show, “Drag Den with Manila Luzon,” Sassa Gurl has won the hearts of many with her contagious sense of humor and commanding presence. Expect to see her authentic self, ensuring that her fans and new viewers are in for a treat with her magnetic energy.
Completing the cast is internet comedian Jun Sabayton, portraying Shitake, one of Takeshi’s henchmen who explains the rules of the game. Each episode also features guest-star commentators, including Maris Racal, Zanjoe Marudo, and Ketchup Eusebio.
The show is produced by Dan Villegas and Antoinette Jadaone under their production company Project 8 Projects and directed by cult-favorite filmmaker RA Rivera.
As Takeshi’s Castle made its triumphant return with a global premiere in Tokyo earlier this year, the Filipino reboot promises to be a delightful fusion of comedy and nostalgia, embracing elements that resonate with local audiences.
Quark Henares, Head of Philippines Originals at Prime Video, commented, “Takeshi’s Castle, a cherished classic, makes a glorious comeback with a locally relevant concept and an exceptional cast, reigniting nostalgia among the longtime fans and sparking a fresh sense of excitement for the new generation. We’re absolutely thrilled and look forward to entertaining our Pinoy audience with this show.”
