Felip, a member of SB19, artist, style icon, and rockstar, now discusses loneliness, betrayal anxiety, and finding authenticity with “Fake Faces,” a far cry from his last EP “COM•PLEX,” which included vicious lyrics and barbed bars. He digs into his gritty rock influences, which are similar to pop-punk, alternative, and emo from the early 2010s. Fake Faces, a song by Felip, is set to become an instant smash for both fans and new listeners with its powerful lyrics that represent today’s challenges.
The song “Fake Faces” was really co-written by Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Seann Bowe (Wiz Khalifa, All That Remains, The Veronicas), and it was produced by Hyuk Shin, the founder of the 153/Joombas Music Group, a highly regarded producer worldwide.
Felip says, “These are big opportunities for me; flying out to Malaysia to work on everything from the track to the music and lyric videos was definitely a career highlight.” In fact, he shares that he did try to keep his nerves in check throughout the entire process, given that he is the first Filipino artist to work with Hyuk Shin. The track was completed and polished in just two days, and Felip was finally happy with the resultant caliber of work.
‘Fake Faces’ gained recognition on the biggest and most well-known music platforms worldwide as soon as it was released on April 5th. It was included in Spotify Philippines’ Tatak Pinoy and OPM Rising playlists, as well as the region’s New Music Friday playlist. It made its debut on Apple Music’s New Releases area before receiving significant attention on the Absolute OPM Playlist and the New Music Daily playlist. Within the first week of its release on YouTube, the lyric video for ‘Fake Faces’ peaked at number thirteen, while the official music video trended at number twelve.
What will Felip do next? “More songs and events,” he shares. With the PAGTATAG of SB19! Felip is dedicated to making songs despite his hectic schedule, especially with the tour finale approaching. His ambitions of breaking into the international arena and performing outside of the Philippines are met with joy by admirers worldwide. Felip intends to make a lasting impression on the world stage as the group continues its tour next week, stopping in Dubai and Japan.
