What are Pokémon games like?

In these roleplaying games (RPGs), the player becomes the protagonist of the story and goes on adventures with mysterious creatures called Pokémon. You can enjoy a variety of ways to play, such as progressing through a single-player story and trading Pokémon with friends.

Mysterious creatures called Pokémon

A number of mysteries surround these unusual creatures. Some Pokémon live happily together with humans, while other, wild Pokémon live in all sorts of places, from beaches to caves, or in clumps of tall grass. It seems that many aspects of their ecology remain unknown.

Making friends with Pokémon and completing your Pokédex

You’ll be able to gain Pokémon as companions in a variety of ways, such as by catching wild ones in Poké Balls, or by trading them with friends or family. Getting these fun creatures as companions will allow you to register their names, habitats, and other data in your Pokédex. Befriending lots of different Pokémon is the key to completing your Pokédex!

Raising Pokémon and battling

As you battle your Pokémon against other Pokémon, you’ll see them learn new moves and sometimes even change their appearance when they evolve! Also, there are people known as Pokémon Trainers who raise Pokémon, some of whom competitively battle other Trainers’ Pokémon to determine whose is strongest. Raise Pokémon you can feel proud of, and try bringing them into battle!

A special video has been released, summarizing the latest information about Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. Both titles will be released on Friday, November 19, 2021!

■ The adventure begins with a forgotten briefcase?!

The stage is set in the Sinnoh region, rich with nature. As the protagonist, you start out in your home of Twinleaf Town, but when you head to the lake in search of a rare Pokémon, a stroke of bad luck puts you face-to-face with a wild Pokémon that appears suddenly.

But upon finding a Poké Ball in a nearby briefcase that just happened to be left behind, you manage to overcome this unexpected challenge with help from a Pokémon. This leads Professor Rowan to recognize your talent as a Pokémon Trainer, and he recruits you to adventure across the Sinnoh region with the aim of completing an encyclopedic record of Pokémon known as a Pokédex.

What awaits our hero, beyond all the encounters and obstacles along the way?

Professor Rowan

A famous professor in the field of Pokémon Evolution. He entrusts you with a Pokémon and asks you to help complete the Pokédex.

Your Rival

Your childhood friend. He sets off on his journey at the same time as you and hones his skills as a Pokémon Trainer through your friendly rivalry.

Cynthia

A mysterious person who shows up at many points along your journey. She’s investigating myths about Pokémon.

Dawn /Lucas

Professor Rowan’s assistant. A reliable friend who’ll help you out at every stage of your journey to complete your Pokédex.

■Aim to become the toughest Pokémon Trainer—the Champion!

As you travel throughout the Sinnoh region aiming to complete your Pokédex, you’ll also challenge the strongest Pokémon Trainers in each town: the Gym Leaders. As you defeat the Gym Leaders, you’ll receive Gym Badges as proof of your victories. If you collect all eight Gym Badges, you’ll be eligible to compete in the Pokémon League, where the highest-level Trainers in the Sinnoh region—the Elite Four and the Champion—await! Win your way through the Pokémon League to earn the title given to only the strongest Pokémon Trainer: Champion!

■ The mysterious organization Team Galactic

Team Galactic is a group active all over the Sinnoh region. Dressed in their uniforms, they make trouble for you at every turn, attempting to interfere with your adventure. They pester people and obtain Pokémon through heavy-handed methods to make them do their dirty work—and there appears to be some sort of lofty goal behind all their audacious activity.

Unveil Team Galactic’s master plan and stop them from carrying it out!

A gift of a Manaphy Egg will be given as a perk for early purchase of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond or Pokémon Shining Pearl. Leave Manaphy with the Pokémon Nursery to get a Phione!

If you check Manaphy and Ditto into the Pokémon Nursery in the Sinnoh region’s Solaceon Town, you can find an Egg. Continue your adventure with that Egg in your party to hatch it, and you’ll get a Phione to join you.

Note: It takes approximately 10 hours of play time to reach Solaceon Town where the Pokémon Nursery is.
