Following the success of Team Philippines at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Philippine Airlines (PAL) has reaffirmed its support for Filipino Paralympians competing in the 2024 Paris Paralympics, set to take place from August 28 to September 8.
At a special send-off dinner on June 19, PAL awarded 50,000 Mabuhay Miles each to archer Augustina Maximo Bantiloc, swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Otom, wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan, javelin thrower Cendy Asusano, and taekwondo para-athlete Allain Ganapin. The airline also pledged additional miles for medalists: 150,000 miles for gold, 100,000 miles for silver, and 80,000 miles for bronze, valid annually for three years.
Mabuhay Miles is PAL’s frequent flyer program, allowing passengers to earn “miles” for flights and other rewards. Recently, PAL awarded 150,000 Mabuhay Miles for life to two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo and 80,000 miles each for three years to bronze medalists and boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas.
“Philippine Airlines is proud to support our Paralympians who embody perseverance and hard work, representing the best of the Philippines on the world stage. They inspire people of all abilities to pursue their dreams. By supporting our Paralympians, we promote inclusivity and national pride,” said Alvin Miranda, PAL’s Vice President for Marketing.
PAL’s commitment to inclusivity is reflected in its efforts to make air travel more accessible for persons with disabilities (PWDs), including special check-in lanes, wheelchair assistance, seating accommodations, free checked baggage, and special meals.
The Filipino Paralympians are featured in PAL’s #PRsGoFurther campaign, which highlights athletes’ personal achievements to raise awareness and celebrate their successes. “Our #PRsGoFurther campaign showcases the incredible records of our Paralympians as they compete on the global stage. Let’s unite to celebrate their achievements, which are a source of national pride,” Miranda added.
PAL’s partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission underscores its commitment to supporting Filipino Olympians and Paralympians at the Paris 2024 Games. PAL encourages Filipinos to support our Paralympians by following their events, engaging on social media, and sharing their stories.
