Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program offers free cyber safety eModules
Dangerous characters lurk on the internet, among them cyberbullies, scammers, and online predators who can target children. Thus, knowledge on internet safety is a must for parents and family members who guide them.
Find out how you can protect your kids against online risks and threats with the help of Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) eModules. Watch the videos on Globe’s new cybersafety portal www.makeitsafe.ph.
“Keeping children safe online means staying informed and getting involved so they can be guided and protected against online predators. The involvement of parents and guardians are critical. Let’s create a safer online environment for children together,” said Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer at Globe.
Introduced in 2016, the award-winning DTP started as a series of workshops to educate students, teachers and parents on proper online behavior and encourage them to create an open, inclusive, collaborative, and safe online environment. So far, it has reached 4,010 schools, involved over 115,000 teachers, and served over 1.9 million students nationwide.
With the introduction of the hybrid school set up in 2020, DTP also evolved. Lessons were turned into eModules that can be used for teacher training in schools and provide parents and guardians with information that can be passed on to the youth. Young adults may also refer to easy-to-understand videos to learn more about cybersafety.
DTP has four eModules that discuss the following: Monitoring Children’s Internet Activities, Protecting Kids From Online Threats, Helping Children Stay Safe Online, and Navigating Online Learning With Your Kids. There is also a full DTP Parent Module in Virtual Reality.
DTP is part of Globe’s cyber safety advocacy, which includes its fight against online sexual abuse and exploitation of children (OSAEC). The company has partnered with local and international organizations to reduce materials that promote OSAEC for future generations to thrive in a more positive and progressive society.
Globe is committed to provide equitable and quality education under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
In addition, the company has been implementing its #makeITsafePH campaign to raise awareness about cyber violence and cybersecurity. Watch a video on the campaign against cyberbullying here.
