The song is co-produced by acclaimed young artists Tim Marquez and Zild, and written by raven himself
Two of the country’s most promising singer-songwriters, Angela Ken and Raven, have recently collaborated on a new song that beautifully captures the joy of feeling secure in a relationship and the desire to make lifelong plans with a loved one.
The aptly titled “Pangako” is a soaring ballad that sees these two Filipino artists exchanging heartfelt vows of commitment, resonating with a wide audience, regardless of age or background.
Raven explains, “It’s all about being ready to love that special someone for a lifetime.” According to this young bedroom pop sensation, the song was inspired by two individuals deeply committed to one another, celebrating their bond and supporting each other through life’s ups and downs.
“I drew inspiration from my uncle’s wedding when I wrote it,” he shares. “I dreamed of creating a song that would perfectly accompany a Same-Day Edit video, serving as a soundtrack that complements a couple’s montage, all while evoking those heartwarming emotions.”
The original version of “Pangako” was crafted by Raven with guidance from his mentor, Rico Blanco. Renowned artists and producers Zild and Tim Marquez joined in for the duet version, adding layers of freshness and complexity to the production. The result is a heartwarming ballad filled with intricate harmonies and stunning instrumentation, painting a vivid picture of youthful romantic bliss.
“It’s not the typical arrangement you would usually find in my songs,” reflects Angela. “And I believe that’s where the magic lies: in the intricate details that the producers have woven into the song while preserving its inherent simplicity, which made it stand out on a lyrical and emotional level. This collaboration is truly remarkable.”
Both Raven and Angela Ken have gained significant attention during the pandemic, piquing the interest of casual music enthusiasts with their relatable songwriting and pop-infused melodies. Angela gained prominence with her 2021 hit “Ako Naman Muna,” amassing over 40 million streams on Spotify alone, while Raven’s steady rise in the music industry and exceptional musical instincts caught the eye of Rico Blanco, leading to a management deal with Balcony Entertainment and a record deal with Sony Music Entertainment.
Raven and Angela Ken’s “Pangako” is now available on all digital music platforms worldwide through Sony Music Entertainment.
