YARA’s version of the novelty hit is produced by Thyro Alfaro, the award-winning composer behind some of the biggest OPM hits
The P-Pop powerhouse YARA takes us on a nostalgic journey back to the Y2K music era with their modern reinterpretation of the Sexbomb Girls’ iconic hit, “Bakit Papa?”—now available through Sony Music Entertainment.
In homage to the novelty classic that marked the rise of all-female pop groups known for their singing and dancing, YARA has given the song a contemporary twist with a touch of synth.
“This version of ‘Bakit Papa?’ leans more towards R&B,” reveals the four-member girl group. “It carries a sensual vibe complemented by sultry choreography.”
YARA’s fresh take on “Bakit Papa?” is co-produced by the acclaimed hitmaker Thyro Alfaro, renowned for crafting some of the most memorable chart-toppers over the last decade, including hits by Sarah Geronimo, James Reid, and Sam Concepcion. Alfaro collaborated with John Paul Soliva on the arrangement and Niño of Popinoy on the production, all while taking into consideration YARA’s artistic vision for this track.
The result is an R&B bop that retains the captivating essence of the original while distinctly reflecting the group’s signature sass.
YARA actively participates in the creative aspects of their music, and for “Bakit Papa?” they collaborated closely with Sony Music Entertainment to bring their vision to life.

The release of “Bakit Papa?” is accompanied by a performance video that exudes the unapologetic fierceness of the song. The visuals also incorporate choreography that adds a sensual dimension to the mix while delivering a dose of fun and nostalgia simultaneously.
