Their new song proves to be another captivating sing-along with timeless edge
NOBITA, the Filipino alt-rock band that topped the Spotify charts in 2022 with their hit “Ikaw Lang,” has now released a new single called “Kalangitan” under Sony Music Entertainment.
This pop-rock ballad showcases the band’s vulnerable side while also delivering a catchy sing-along in a familiar form. Written by Jaeson, Mark, and Richmond, and co-produced with Isagani Palabyab, a frequent collaborator, “Kalangitan” is an inspirational tune about companionship through thick and thin.
The band shared in a collective statement that “Just when you think that you have reached rock bottom, remember that there is always someone with you who will help you reach for the heavens.” The arrangement stays true to their sound and the melody transcends emotions, making it a material that they would love to explore again and again.
NOBITA excels in writing emotional pop songs, as seen in “Kalangitan,” a soaring anthem that takes ‘hugot’ in a strikingly familiar direction. The chart-topping quintet adds, “We’re just trying to keep it simple and straightforward, hence, palatable to the general audience.”
The release of the track comes with a music video directed by John Selirio. The video doubles as a commentary on high school clique systems and bullying and features rising actors and content creators Joao Constancia and Queenay Mercado.
NOBITA’s “Kalangitan” is out now on all digital music platforms worldwide via Sony Music Entertainment.
