Produced by Wild Mercury Productions (part of Banijay UK), the series is written by David Macpherson and directed by John Strickland (Line of Duty, Bodyguard) and Alex Holmes (The Letter for the King). Executive producers Derek Wax, David Macpherson, and John Strickland lead the project, alongside series producer Suzanne Reid and co-producer Matt Brown.

On Call is a high-intensity police drama that follows the dynamic partnership of a rookie and a veteran officer as they patrol the streets of Long Beach, California. Filmed using a blend of hand-held cameras, bodycam, and dash-cam footage, the series delivers a raw, cinéma vérité style, immersing viewers in the complex realities of law enforcement while examining the morality of protecting and serving a community.
The series stars Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars) as veteran officer Traci Harmon, a determined yet compassionate leader striving to navigate departmental challenges while mentoring the next generation of officers. Brandon Larracuente (The Good Doctor) plays Alex Diaz, an idealistic rookie confronting the harsh realities of modern policing and struggling to maintain his optimism.
The cast also features Lori Loughlin (Fuller House) as Lieutenant Bishop, Rich Ting as Tyson Koyoma, and Eriq La Salle (Chicago PD) as Sergeant Lasman. La Salle also serves as an executive producer and directed several episodes of the series, bringing his expertise to both sides of the camera.
