The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) reaffirms its commitment to enriching Luzon’s vibrant artistic community by funding 85 projects across the region with over ₱81 million through the 2025 Competitive Grants Program. The deadline for submissions is August 31, 2024.
Under Section 12.a.4 of Republic Act 7356 (NCCA Charter), the Commission is empowered to provide grants to artists and cultural organizations that contribute significantly to the Filipino cultural heritage, fostering artistic excellence. Additionally, Section 13.h of the same law mandates the NCCA to manage the National Endowment Fund for Culture and the Arts (NEFCA) and distribute grants to support the development, protection, preservation, and dissemination of Philippine culture and arts. Eligible applicants include non-government organizations (NGOs), people’s organizations (POs), indigenous peoples’ organizations (IPOs), individuals, local government units (LGUs), government agencies (GAs), state universities and colleges (SUCs), and public schools.
The 2025 NCCA Competitive Grants Program aligns with four key strategic outcomes outlined in the Philippine Development Plan for Culture and the Arts 2024–2029: Filipino Identity Reaffirmed, Filipino Creativity and Innovativeness Harnessed, Humane, Inclusive, and Sustainable Communities Established, and Culture and Disaster Responsive Governance Enhanced. These outcomes underscore the Program’s potential to make a lasting impact on the landscape of Filipino artistry.
Project proposals for the Competitive Grants Program undergo a rigorous and confidential evaluation process based on merit, including quality and alignment with the Commission’s priorities. Projects are categorized under four Subcommissions, which consist of 19 national committees: the Subcommission on the Arts (SCA); the Subcommission on Cultural and Traditional Arts (SCCTA); the Subcommission on Cultural Dissemination (SCD); and the Subcommission on Cultural Heritage (SCH). Applicants may submit only one project proposal and must complete the prescribed NCCA Project Proposal Form, specifying the category in which their project falls. Proposals must include all necessary documentation and be submitted in either Filipino or English. Additionally, proponents must be accredited by the Commission as a prerequisite for project approval. It is important to note that NCCA officials, employees, Executive Council (ExeCon) Members, their relatives up to the fourth civil degree of affinity and consanguinity, and organizations or institutions where ExeCon Members hold positions are ineligible to submit proposals.
