Launching Pasayahin 2023, Padyak Pasay sets the tone for Pasay City’s Foundation Week celebration. This cycling event, in collaboration with SM Cares, SM by the BAY, SM Prime, and JCI Manileña, is designed to foster community engagement, prioritize health, and champion sustainability, thereby enhancing the dynamic essence of Pasay City.
SM malls work closely with cities and government agencies in championing bike-friendly communities by making fun bike activities, road safety clinics and bike facilities accessible to Filipinos.
In anticipation of National Bicycle Day, SM Supermalls joined hands with local government units in a series of initiatives, in partnership with their corporate social responsibility arm, SM Cares, aimed at championing biking as an eco-friendly mode of transport.
Organized by the City of Pasay and JCI Manilena, Padyak Pasay brought together more than 400 cyclists for an enjoyable bike ride spanning SM by the BAY and various locations throughout the city. In collaboration with SM Cares and the Break the Cycle bike coalition, young residents of Pasay actively participated in a bike safety clinic and an eco-friendly bike tour.
“As emerging leaders, it becomes crucial for us to impart not only the essential skills for safe cycling on roads to the younger generation but also instill in them a perspective that views biking as a means to contribute to a cleaner environment. Mr. Bien C. Mateo, Vice President of SM Supermalls and Program Director of SM Cares, expresses the aspiration that our bike eco tour will motivate children to embrace sustainable habits at home, drawing inspiration from our responsible management of properties.”
In the meantime, SM City Iloilo collaborates with the City of Iloilo and the Department of Transportation to organize a 3-day festival. Attracting an audience of almost 14,500 participants, the event features a range of activities, such as a bike expo, a vintage bike exhibit, bike food tours, as well as enjoyable rides and races.
Remaining true to its commitment as a Mall for All, SM Cares extended its support to the Active Mobility Forum by featuring Early Sol Gadong, a prominent female leader and advocate for inclusive biking. The festival reaches its pinnacle on National Bicycle Day, November 26, commemorated with the annual Bike Lane Awards, honoring cities that prioritize and foster bike-friendly environments.
