This was followed by Yasunori Takamatsu, Chief Country Representative for the Philippines, who detailed MOL’s shipping and non-shipping businesses in the country, emphasizing its deep-rooted partnership with Filipino seafarers.
The Philippines: A Vital Partner in MOL’s Global Operations
Takamatsu underscored that Filipino seafarers make up the majority of crew members aboard MOL-operated vessels, reinforcing the Philippines as the backbone of MOL Group’s safe and efficient fleet operations.
He also highlighted MOL Magsaysay Maritime Academy (MMMA), a premier merchant marine academy managed in partnership with the Magsaysay Group. Beyond training aspiring seafarers, MOL and Magsaysay also operate advanced training centers to enhance the skills and certifications of active crew members.
“The Philippines is a key stakeholder for MOL, both in business operations and in maritime expertise,” Takamatsu noted.
Echoing this sentiment, Jesse Ho Maxwell, President and CEO of Magsaysay Shipping & Logistics, expressed his enthusiasm for further strengthening the partnership between MOL and Magsaysay—an alliance that has thrived since 1964.
MOL’s Future in the Philippines
Looking ahead, MOL Group remains committed to expanding both its shipping and non-shipping ventures in the Philippines, further investing in seafarer training and regional development. These efforts align with MOL’s “BLUE ACTION 2035” plan, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for the company’s operations in the region.
