The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Women’s Invitational (MWI) 2024 has officially announced the Group Stage schedule for the largest MLBB esports tournament for women. Held alongside the inaugural Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, MWI 2024 will feature 12 international teams showcasing their gaming skills to the world, starting on July 24 at 12:00 (GMT+3) or 17:00 (GMT+8).
This tournament provides female players with a platform to vie for the title of the best all-women MLBB team, with a life-changing prize pool of USD 500,000—one of the highest in women’s esports history. The opening match will feature Indonesia’s Team Falcons Vega (FLCV) against Cambodia’s CFUSerendipity (CFU).
FLCV (formerly GPX Basreng) is viewed as a major contender against Team Vitality (VIT), the current leaders in the scene. As the second-best team in Indonesia, FLCV is highly motivated to claim the title this year. Their formidable roster will face off against CFU, which boasts promising players like jungler Rin “Tegami” Chanthana, renowned for her lethal Lancelot. CFU should not be underestimated; they have a reputation for resilience, exemplified by their impressive run in the qualifiers, where they advanced to the grand finals of the Cambodia qualifier from the lower bracket, defeating 20 Khmer teams along the way.
On July 25, Team Falcons MENA (FLCN) will face off against Victory Song Gamers (VSG) from Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA). As the leading team from the Middle East, FLCN aims to make a global impact with a standout performance against VSG. Meanwhile, VSG, a formidable Russian team, seeks to impress with its new lineup, which features imports from the Philippines.
Another highly anticipated match in the Land of Dawn could be the showdown between Indonesia’s Team Vitality (VIT) and the Philippines’ Smart Omega Empress (OMGE). Both teams are tournament favorites and are expected to excel in their respective groups.
VIT, formerly known as Bigetron Era (BTR), boasts an award-winning roster, including Southeast Asia (SEA) Games MLBB Gold Medalist Vivian “Vivi” Indrawaty, renowned as the “Indonesian Mother of Tanks.” Having won the first two MWI tournaments as BTR, VIT is a top contender for the title this year.
Vivi and her team will face their long-time rivals, Smart Omega Empress (OMGE), led by roamer Mery Christine “Meraaay” Vivero. Meraaay aims to exact revenge on the Indonesian powerhouse after their defeat in the SEA Games 2023.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Playoffs Stage, which begins on July 26. The team with the lowest points in each group will be eliminated from the tournament.
The Playoffs Stage will kick off with a single-elimination Best-of-Three (BO3) format on the first day. The following day, July 27, will feature single-elimination Best-of-Five (BO5) matches.
