Miguel Odron immortalizes the feeling of his first heartbreak through his upcoming single under ABS-CBN Music International (AMI) “Weed,” dropping this Friday (June 12).
“It’s the oldest song on the EP; I wrote it a decade ago about somebody I liked in high school,” Miguel shared.
In “Weed,” a relatable track about the fear of rejection and not being good enough, Miguel compares himself to the weeds his mother would ask him to pick from their backyard. “That’s what I felt like. Unwanted, like I was just taking up space,” he recalled.
His sophomore single follows the success of his debut release under AMI titled “Chevy Cruze,” which racked up features on Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists across East Asia and the Middle East, as well as inclusions on Spotify’s editorial playlists like “Tatak Pinoy,” “Men of OPM,” and “OPM Rising.”
It was also highlighted on Apple Music’s “New Music Daily” & “Hot Tracks” and on Anghami’s “New Pinoy” playlist.
Miguel said the process of writing the two songs was completely different. “’Chevy’ is more of a time-lapse of my experiences and artistic tastes over the three or so years that I worked on it. ‘Weed’ on the other hand is more of a snapshot of a moment in my life.”
Miguel is just one of the fresh talents under ABS-CBN Music International, ABS-CBN’s music label that seeks to introduce the exceptional artistry of Filipinos to global audiences.
