Red Bull Dance Your Style Philippine National Finals was held at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheatre!
Sixteen dancers, one stage, and only one to represent the Philippines at the World Finals in Johannesburg, South Africa in December.
Dancers were shuffled and were randomly picked for a two-round dance battle. The catch? There were no judges! The unique part of the battle is that the audience get to choose who will rule the dance floor.
Just last Saturday, July 23, 2022, Sixteen dancers made history at the Red Bull stage.
And for the first time ever, the country now has its first Red Bull Dance Your Style champion.
Specialising in Waacking and is a native in Baguio, Mickey Yatar was crowned the victor and will be the one to represent the Philippines to the global one-on-one street dance competition.
“Top of my head is consulting the Top 16 (RB DYS Finalists). They all have great ideas because some of them are my teachers and closest friends. I want to consult and gather more tips from them for my preparation.” Yatar said.
In order to improve his overall performance, Yatar also shared that he plans to train more physically and explore the importance of his body’s adaptation to environments, such as South Africa’s climate.
More than 30 countries with the best dancers will compete to rule the dance floor and Mickey Yatar is set to go head-to-head with them at the culmination of the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Finals.
Congratulations, and good luck Mickey Yatar, the Victor and the first representative of the Philippines for Red Bull Dance Your Style!
