Unbeknownst to many perhaps, McCoy de Leon and Kisses Delavin became good buddies and are friends during and even after their stay in the Pinoy Big Brother House Teen Edition!
No wonder during the grand press conference of Regal Films’ opening salvo for this year “D’ Ninang” they both became open and confident over how they are to attack their characters while bantering with each other on-screen. “Parang tinake naming natural talaga po mga roles namin,” McCoy quips. “Pero dapat may mapakitang kilig pakonti konti”.
However, the smiley-faced handsome actor is honest to say how he wants Kisses to address him off-screen, and that she must not take on-screen. “Para walang ilangan sa’min sabi ko kay Kisses o ayan ha walang tawagan ng Kuya kuya ha. Inuulit ko sa kanya yun kase para mas kapani paniwala ang tandem namin”. His words leading to the fact that since theirs is a new and even first big-screen pairing, both actors want their chemistry to work. From the comedy’s trailer alone, when McCoy and Kisses lock eyes in their scenes, it is noticeable how subtle their charm for each other is, yet pretty to look at; “bagay sila tingnan kase. Tapos yung pagkakaiba ng roles nila maintriga tingnan yun eh” observes the movie’s main star Ai-Ai delas Alas.
McCoy being a streetsmart “madiskarte si Kali eh. Alam niya kung kelan magsasalita ng diretso”. While Kisses is poised and focused on her dreams to be a lawyer but whose real identity comes with a twist. “Mikhai po kase is a girl who wants to have a focus in life but when she appears to Ms. Ai Ai bilang her long-lost daughter, she does not expect her life is going to get a conflict”.
Conflicts that bear a message to warm the heart make D’ Ninang a comedy with a heart. What made McCoy and Kisses instantly warm up with each other is how new their tandem is and the obviously comfortable company they have for being friends off-screen. Suffice to this, more than a year have already passed since the demise of their loveteams, they are both feeling in fact savoring the freedom to explore new characters, and probably detour from loveteam formula.
Asked why McCoy and Kisses instantly got the thumbs up from press and bloggers upon seeing them on screen, the actor was quick to say “kase po na excite kami ni Kisses para sa aming dalawa eh. Parang kung baga alam na namin kung paano namin tatratohin yung roles namin pag take na. Inisip namin mga instructions ni Direk GB (Sampedro), pero pareho namin diniskartehan. Kaya ang saya ang ganda po ng naging resulta ng mga eksena namin!
