Martin Nievera reaffirmed his commitment to ABS-CBN by renewing his contract with the network, which he fondly referred to as his home for the past 37 years, during a ceremony held on Sunday, May 19.
“I was a Kapamilya when we used to call this the ‘Sarimanok’ station. Before the word was ever used, I was already a Kapamilya. You had me at hello. Just like finding the right girl in your life, I found my right home. There’s no place else to go but home,” he expressed.
Nievera also took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the individuals who have contributed to his success during his 42-year tenure in the entertainment industry.
“I am a product of many great writers, amazing directors, and people who believe in me. I take no credit for being up here on stage. I represent a great amount of talent that you don’t see. So for me to sign this is my way of thanking them and glorifying their talents through me,” he shared.
Regarding future projects, Nievera expressed his desire to collaborate with the new generation of artists, emphasizing his eagerness to sit back, listen, and learn from them. He is scheduled to return to the Big Dome for his 42nd anniversary concert and is also gearing up for “ASAP Natin ‘To” in California.
Among the ABS-CBN executives present at the contract signing were chairman Mark Lopez, president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, COO Cory Vidanes, and CFO Rick Tan Jr. Also in attendance were Erik Santos, Darren Espanto, KZ Tandingan, and Bamboo, who performed some of Nievera’s greatest hits.
Bianca Gonzales and Robi Domingo served as hosts for the grand contract signing event.
As the Concert King of the Philippines, Martin Nievera has made significant contributions to Philippine Pop Culture through his numerous sold-out concerts, both locally and internationally, and as a multi-awarded singer-songwriter behind timeless OPM hits such as “Say That You Love Me,” “Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin,” and “Maging Sino Ka Man.” He is also recognized as one of the original hosts of the long-standing musical variety show “ASAP,” which he helped coin back in 1995.
