HBO has unveiled the official trailer and key art for the six-episode original limited series titled “The Regime” featuring Academy Award®-winner Kate Winslet in a leading role. The series, written by Will Tracy and directed by Stephen Frears (Episodes 101, 102, and 104) and Jessica Hobbs (Episodes 103, 105, and 106), is set to premiere on Monday, March 4, on HBO and HBO GO.
This darkly comedic series delves into life within the confines of a contemporary authoritarian regime as it begins to crumble. Chancellor Elena Vernham (Kate Winslet), secluded within the palace for an extended period, spirals into paranoia and instability. Seeking an unlikely ally, she turns to the volatile soldier Herbert Zubak (Matthias Schoenaerts), whose influence over the chancellor intensifies. As Elena endeavors to expand her authority, her actions lead to the fragmentation of both the palace and the nation.
“The Regime” features a stellar cast including Kate Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton, and Hugh Grant.
Executive producers include Will Tracy, who also serves as showrunner and writer, along with Frank Rich, Tracey Seaward, Kate Winslet, Stephen Frears, and Jessica Hobbs. The writing team comprises Seth Reiss, Sarah DeLappe, Gary Shteyngart, Jen Spyra, and Juli Weiner.
