KPMG Philippines Showcases Next Generation of Tech Experts

Fledgling technology experts took center stage at the recently concluded KPMG in the Philippines Innovation Summit, titled “Tech Horizons: Unleashing the Future of Innovation.” The event underscored KPMG’s commitment to using technology as a catalyst for progress while reminding business leaders and tech pioneers of the importance of sustainability and responsible tech practices, as future generations will experience the long-term impacts of today’s innovations.

KPMG in the Philippines Academic Innovation Challenge 2024

A key highlight of the summit was the first-ever KPMG in the Philippines Academic Innovation Challenge (AIC), which showcased the next generation of tech leaders. Students from 15 colleges and universities competed, demonstrating their expertise in data analytics and visualization. Under the theme “Processed data is information. Processed information is knowledge. Processed knowledge is wisdom,” over 57 students participated, offering fresh perspectives powered by data-driven insights.

The top prize was awarded to the Trial and Aaron team from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, comprising Kline Jeff Lepardo, Aaron Lowel Santomin, and Julienne Vinarao. Second place went to QWERTY from Far Eastern University Manila, while third place was claimed by APC JAM from Asia-Pacific College. These teams impressed the judges with their innovative use of data analytics and creative problem-solving skills.

Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence

A major theme of this year’s summit was the ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). While AI offers the potential to transform industries and streamline processes, the summit emphasized the importance of developing, deploying, and governing AI responsibly. Transparency, accountability, and ethical considerations were highlighted as crucial factors in mitigating risks associated with AI while unlocking its transformative potential.
