KonsultaMD Launches LGBTQ+ Inclusive Care in Collaboration PEPFAR-USAID’s EpiC Project

KonsultaMD is advancing inclusive healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community through a new partnership with the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Project.

This collaboration makes KonsultaMD the first telehealth application in the Philippines to offer Inclusive Care, featuring doctors trained by the PEPFAR-USAID’s EpiC Project in Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, Sex Characteristics (SOGIESC), gender sensitivity, and motivational counseling.

The new service provides the LGBTQ+ community with access to healthcare professionals who are equipped to understand and address their specific needs. KonsultaMD ensures a safe, respectful, and confidential space for consultations, including specialized sexual health services.

“KonsultaMD is committed to dismantling barriers to healthcare for the LGBTQ+ community,” said Beia Latay, KonsultaMD CEO. “Our collaboration with PEPFAR-USAID’s EpiC Project enables us to offer care that acknowledges and respects the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community. We believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, and this initiative is a crucial step towards that goal.”

This initiative addresses common barriers such as limited understanding, stigma, discrimination, confidentiality issues, and restricted access to services. By overcoming these obstacles, it encourages the LGBTQ+ community to prioritize their health, as delaying care can lead to poorer outcomes for common health issues.
