Kim Chiu & Paulo Avelino’s Rom-Com Hits International Screens

ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema is making a strong comeback in romantic comedy with the new film “My Love Will Make You Disappear.” The movie will be in theaters across the U.S. and Canada on March 28. This film is the first big-screen project for popular Filipino actors Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino.

A Curse and a Love Story: A Film Directed by Chad Vidanes, Written by Patrick Valencia and Isabella Policarpio

Chad Vidanes directed the film, while Patrick Valencia and Isabella Policarpio wrote the script. The story is about Sari (Chiu), a woman who believes she has a curse. Every man she loves mysteriously disappears. Then, she meets Jolo (Avelino), a landlord struggling to save his apartment building. They work together to stop the community from losing their homes. However, Sari’s curse may put their growing romance at risk.

Press Conference Highlights: Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino Share Excitement for the Film

The excitement for the film increased during the press conference on February 19, 2025. The event happened at the ABS-CBN Dolphy Theater. Paulo Avelino shared his thoughts on the project. He said, “Sobrang exciting panoorin, sobrang bitin pa (trailer), naiisip ko yung eksena, napakarami pang magpapatawa, magpapakilig, magpapagulat sa viewers. Kung nagustuhan nyo yung trailer, a hundred percent magugustuhan nyo pa yung pelikula.”

Kim Chiu also talked about her experience working with Avelino. She said, “Hindi ko talaga maisip na makakasundo ko ang isang Paulo Avelino,” She also shared a touching moment about her co-star. Even while in Negros Province, Avelino gave her flowers on Valentine’s Day.

At the end of the press conference, Kim Chiu became emotional. She thanked ABS-CBN and Star Cinema for trusting her with a big project. She said, “Nakakaiyak, sobrang laki ng movie, sobrang thank you sa Star Cinema for giving this kind of promotion, for giving this kind of story, and sa international release na iba-iba yung poster.”

Paulo Avelino also expressed his gratitude. He said, “Di ko inexpect na ganoon karaming bansa na ilalabas ‘yung pelikula namin, very happy and I’m proud of Star Cinema.”

This film has a unique story and strong chemistry between its lead actors. The international release will also help reach a bigger audience. “My Love Will Make You Disappear” is one of the must-watch Filipino films this year.
