KHIMO, the triumphant winner of “Idol Philippines” Season 2, has unveiled his latest R&B/soul single, “Happy Ending,” a song inspired by a long-distance relationship he once experienced.
The genesis of this love story occurred when KHIMO and his partner became acquainted through a mutual couple facing a precarious long-distance relationship. He explained, “Our love story started because we both knew a couple that were in an LDR and they were on the verge of breaking up. The guy was my friend, the girl was hers. We started speaking because of the other couple and their issues. That discussion turned into a conversation, and that conversation turned into our love story.”
Despite grappling with their own long-distance situation, KHIMO and his partner managed to stay together. He shared, “Our couple friend broke up, but we promised each other we wouldn’t be like them, even though we were apart. In the end, we got together, which is why the song is titled ‘Happy Ending.'”
“Happy Ending” was co-composed by KHIMO in Taglish with assistance from ABS-CBN Music’s creative director, Jonathan Manalo, who also produced the song. The creative team also included Jeremy Glinoga and Star Pop label head Rox Santos.
This soulful track follows KHIMO’s debut single, “Nasunog,” released in July. Both singles are set to be part of his upcoming album under Star Music.
