Kenny Rogers Roasters’ Farmvocacy Program: Promoting Compassionate Dining and Supporting Local Farmers

Food becomes even more enjoyable and meaningful when it’s prepared with compassion and support for others. This is the aim of Kenny Rogers Roasters as it held its third Farmvocacy Program. Rooted in its message, “Eat Healthy Help Greatly,” the program fosters a farm-to-table approach where every purchase of selected menu items supports local farmers.

Urban Farmers PH (UFPH) recently received P300,000 donation from Kenny Rogers Roasters’ 3rd Farmvocacy program led by (L-R) UFPH farmer Alfred Sornito, farm manager and project head Randy Yenogacio, Barrio Obrero Elementary School teacher Joaquina Narag, administrative officer II Joan Matic Rivera, master teacher 1 Lyrna Bartolome, teacher Eddie Yaput, UFPH business dev. officer Marian Pacunana-Sangil, Kenny Rogers Roasters marketing director Lorent Adrias, Barrio Obrero Elementary School principal Francis S. Tiamzon, teacher Rodolfo del Moral, school parent-teacher associations (SPTA) treasurer Sara Jane Paulite, vice president Mary Ann Cruz, and president Rouel Tecson.

In its third year, the program featured the well-loved Chimichurri Roast, made with locally sourced ingredients. Early this year, customers who ordered the Chimichurri Roast Solo Plate, whether dining in, taking out, or ordering delivery, contributed to Kenny Rogers’ support of Urban Farmers PH – an organization that transforms unused public spaces into vibrant urban farms, demonstrating that farming is enjoyable, feasible, and transferable. A portion of each Chimichurri Roast purchase was donated to Urban Farmers PH.

Through the Farmvocacy Program, Kenny Rogers Roasters has accumulated a total of P300,000. The funds donated to Urban Farmers PH were used to support the Taguig Integrated School and Barrio Obrero Elementary School, providing essential resources for their plant beds, seedling nurseries, and technical training in urban farming. These initiatives are instilling the value and appreciation for agriculture among young urban dwellers while promoting healthy eating.

Kenny Rogers Roasters 3rd Farmvocacy program’s proceeds donated to Urban Farmers PH were used to support the Taguig Integrated School and Barrio Obrero Elementary School, where each received P150,000 to provide essential resources for their plant beds, seedling nurseries, and technical training in urban farming.

This support aims to further strengthen the momentum of urban farming in the Philippines. Despite challenges like limited space and access to resources, the program has helped urban farming thrive, offering a promising means for sustainable urban development and improved food access.

Kenny Rogers Roasters’ dedication to helping local farmers through the Farmvocacy Program demonstrates its commitment to supporting local communities and improving food security while promoting environmental sustainability, community resilience, and economic development.

So far, the Farmvocacy Program has provided support to various local farming organizations, most recently including Samahang Magmamanga ng Zambales Inc.
